s an 80s baby, the writer of this website thinks this movie is an absolute gem of a kids' movie (and "No Cats in America" is a banger). It's fun, there's singing, the animations are adorable. It also tells a very dare-I-say nuanced version of the immigration story. Fievel and his family get separated in NYC, they find out there ARE cats in America, and even though they're happy to be safer than they were in the home they left, they have to adapt to the reality that their new home has problems too. It's in the category of movies that trust kids to be able to understand hard things, put into kid-appropriate stories.
